The latest Henley Passport Index for 2025 has revealed significant changes in the global passport rankings, with Singapore taking the top spot as the most powerful passport. Citizens of Singapore can travel to 195 destinations visa-free, leading the list by a considerable margin.

Japan follows in second place, with visa-free access to 193 countries, while a group of European and Asian nations—Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and South Korea—share third place with access to 192 destinations.

Other notable countries include the UK, which has dropped from fourth to fifth place, allowing access to 190 countries, and the US, which slipped from seventh to ninth place, with citizens able to visit 186 countries visa-free. Despite this drop, both the US and UK are still among the top 10 most powerful passports.

Canada has also experienced a decline, falling from fourth place to seventh, while Australia has maintained its position at sixth with access to 189 destinations.

The rankings are based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), analyzing the number of countries a passport holder can enter without requiring a visa.
